Collings Guitars Are Special In Many Ways

The piano holds a high spot in music history. It is a rich and versatile instrument. The fundamentals of piano playing are structural and simple; however, it can take years of intense study and practice to become a master. The piano will become less of a mystery to you when you understand the way the notes fit with each other and follow this up by practicing melodies and chords. When you have studied sufficiently to understand the mechanics of music, you will be able to compose on your own. This is a very impressive skill to have.

Watch: The Batman: The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Is Officially Released To The Internets

Last week a grainy, very dark and shaky bootleg recording of the first teaser trailer for Batman: The Dark Knight Rises leaked its way to the Internets. This weekend, the trailer was shown in front of screenings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 and today, Warner Bros. has finally released a [...]

After spending a couple of days in the desert of Palm Springs, CA, David and I packed up our bags and made our way back home to LA. To be honest, I don’t think Palm Springs is my thing. I totally get the relaxed vibe but for some reason, all that free time made me feel antsy. I liked our lodgings at the ACE Hotel fine but I wasn’t in love. I will say that it was nice to get away for a couple of days but, meh, I prolly would’ve had a better time if we had stayed at home.

On our way back to LA, we did stop off at the high end outlet shopping center off the freeway. Now, I am not an outlet shopper … but this place has Gucci, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Barney’s, Saks and MORE outlets! That being said, I really didn’t find anything that I fell in love with. David picked up a few cool things and I did find a totally bitchin’ denim jacket at the Levi’s Store but I didn’t go nearly as crazy as I thought I was gonna … which is prolly a good thing.

No plans for today … lots of laundry and cleaning up to do. David and I are visiting his brother next weekend in San Francisco so I gots to get this place in order. Happy Monday!!

Keanu Reeves is reportedly getting off his sad bench and in negotiations with the China Film Group and Village Roadshow to not only star in, but also direct a film that he wrote, named Man of Tai Chi, which is a Mandarin and English language kung-fu story!

Apparently, the flick would also star Tiger Chen, who was part of the kung-fu team that helped the actor prepare for his iconic role in The Matrix!

Reeves is set to play the film's villain, and will once again be participating in some seriously intense fight sequences!

Awesome! We're so glad to see him coming back to this genre!

Best of luck, Sir! We think we'll definitely check this out!

What do U think?? Would U see Keanu's kung-fu extravaganza?

Celebrity Birthdays Today: Richard Gere, Sara Ramirez, Deborah Gibson More!

In today’s edition of Celebrity Birthdays Today, a ‘Go-Go’ turns 54, a ‘Wallflower’ is 41, and a ‘Scorpion’ turns 63. Guess who else is celebrating today? Happy Birthday, Richard Gere! The Pretty Woman actor turns 62 years old today. The trailer for his latest flick, The Double, has been released (check it out below), and I am looking forward to this thriller, due out on September 23rd. Gere plays a retired CIA agent who joins forces with a young FBI operative played by Topher Grace to investigate the murder of a Senator, whose death is thought to be at the hands of a Russian killer, presumed dead for several years. Happy Birthday, Sara Ramirez! The Grey’s Anatomy star is 36 years old today. To say that Sara’s GA character Callie and her partner Arizona had a rough time last season is an understatement. Will their angst spill over into Season 8? Rhimes said, “They went through so much last season. There was a lot of darkness. I sort of want them to get to be in the light this year. We’re going to enjoy them as mothers, see[ing] what motherhood does to their sex life, their relationship, and their work [...]

Over Ear Headphones Compared to In Ear Headphones

Jerry Lee Lewis' breakout hit, "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," was recorded at Sun Studio in one take as a probable B-side. Lewis, backed by just drums and a lead guitar, knew it was a hit as soon as he cut it. Co-written by Dave "Curlee" Williams and pianist Roy Hall in 1954, the song was covered a few times without success until Jerry Lee made the top ten in 1957.

Choosing The Right Pop Beats Online

Still riding high on the success of Joshua Tree, during the tour for that album in 1987, U2 was becoming more and more inspired by an older musical genre and the Irish music that surrounded them as they grew up. Although the music was there for their listening, they never much payed any real attention to it.

Learning To Play A 12 String Yamaha Acoustic Guitar

When you think of an icon in relation to any contribution, it stands to measure someone with greatness. That measure is exemplified with the "Unforgettable" Nat King Cole. Nat King Cole was considered a crooner and is associated with greats, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby. and Dean Martin. Nat King Cole's voice is said to be the most distinctively unique of the bunch. He remains a musical icon to this day and has received many tributes and awards since his death.

Word is out that Snoop Dogg is launching his own tobacco cigar line called, Executive Branch. I have to be honest when I first heard this news, I was pretty surprised. I haven’t heard of any celebs or stars putting their name to a tobacco product in YEARS. Smoking might still be as popular as ever but branding, marketing and sponsorship of tobacco has undergone some pretty massive changes over the last few years. This is certainly an interesting one…

Billboard announced yesterday that Snoop will be unveiling his cigar brand, which he says is made with “premium tobacco from the Dominican Republic,” at this year’s Coachella Festival where he will be performing. The first product released will be the Executive Branch Cigarillos. The information we have now is that the cigarillos will be sold for 99 cents a pouch, with two cigars in each package.

“Throughout my career I have been lucky enough to travel the world and try all different types of tobacco products. During my travels throughout South America and the Caribbean, I was fortunate to encounter this tobacco company, Executive Branch and was so impressed by their commitment to quality [far superior than all others], I knew I had to bring them to the States for all my fans to enjoy,” Snoop Dogg says in a press release. “Throughout 2012, we plan on releasing new styles and flavors, in which I will be working with their team to make sure all products are up to Snoop Dogg standards.”

Hmm… I’m not quite sure what to make of all of this. It just feels very strange to me. I am not naive to think that cigars and cigarettes are not still very popular, and I do know that marketing products with a celebrity is incredibly lucrative on the whole, but this just seems bizarre to me. I mean even TV shows don’t really show people smoking anymore… I think celebrities endorsing smoking is a strange phenomenon, but this goes even further because Snoop Dogg actually will have his own brand of cigars. What do you think of this??

How To Keep Your Vinyl Albums Unscratched

The Compact Disc altered how computers and music devices stored, played back and read data, and unlike past cassette and floppy discs, added more storage memory for computer users. Originally created in the early 90s, CDs were designed to replace floppy drives and cassettes, and over a 10-year period, they not only replaced floppies and cassettes, but made them completely obsolete. Videos, music, data and even video games were all placed on a CD, which was used as a new, multi-purpose data storage item of the future. If it were not for the CD, music, software and even movies would not look the same.

The Elvis Costello Discography Late 70s Highlights

For the best part of his career, Paul McCartney has been rightly celebrated as a wonderful multi-instrumentalist (encompassing bass and electric guitar, keyboards and drums), an implausibly gifted tunesmith, up there with almost any other notable composer of the past 100 years and a force for good across the world, through his music, promotion of vegetarianism and his charitable enterprises. However, with more specific regard to his music, he has not received as much recognition for his lyric writing as I believe he should have.

Celebrity Birthdays January 5: Carrie Ann Inaba, Bradley Cooper, Kristin Cavallari More!

Happy Thursday to you all! The week is flying by, before you know it, the weekend will be here once again. Who else is ready for some weekend fun? Me! Me! Me! It’s the last hurrah before my kids head back to school. As far as celebrity birthdays go today, everyone’s favorite resident bartender on ship turns 64, “Fallon Carrington” is 59 and “Betty Draper” is 34. Guess who? Happy Birthday, Carrie Ann Inaba! The “Dancing With the Stars” judge is 44 years old today. The next season of DWTS will begin in March, and I’m just chomping at the bit to find out who the next round of stars will be to grace the ballroom floor. No doubt Carrie Ann is enjoying some down time, and hopefully getting more of those wedding plans in order. Last year she became engaged after her boyfriend, Jesse Sloan, proposed to her while she was guest hosting on “Live With Regis and Kelly”. It was so sweet! A true awww moment. Happy Birthday, Bradley Cooper! The hunky “Hangover” actor is 37 years old today. Cooper, who last year was named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive, has a new lady love in his life, “Avatar” [...]

Dvorak Cello Concerto

The truth about Tchaikovsky's 'secret' has been long known to the world since his death. The fact that he was homosexual at a time and place where it was looked upon as a very serious matter no doubt contributed to the periods of emotional fragility he had throughout his life. Tchaikovsky himself fought with his tendencies, for he knew well the consequences if they were discovered.

Community Lives! Sort of!

NBC Chief Bob Greenblatt addressed questions about the beloved show during a winter press tour. Greenblatt stated that Community is not canceled and would return at a TBD sometime this spring.

Greenblatt said the following:

When I announced our midseason changes last fall and took Community off the schedule, I failed to explicitly say that it would be back. I want to expel any notion that it is just disappearing off the schedule

As for what time Community comes back, that is another issue as well.

The NBC head honcho said that 8pm is now a time slot Thursdays so there may be some shuffling on Thursday's programming. He also stated that he's "very curious" to see how something like 30 Rock would do at 8pm.

Good news for the folks at Greendale!

Marc Anthony Dating Venezuelan Model Shannon De Lima

Looks like Marc Anthony has found himself a new lady love, 24-year old Shannon De Lima who is a Venezuelan. She is young and smoking hot, kind of like J.Lo’s new man huh? Marc Anthony is moving on from his ill-fated 7-year marriage to Jennifer Lopez. He has confirmed via Facebook that he is dating Shanna De Lima. The singer sent this message via Twitter to the new woman in life. To @Shadelima my statue of liberty, Kisses baby! Don’t you just love social networking, so good for flaunting your new relationship in the face of well perhaps and old love. Not judgment here I am just sayin. Anyway he sure seems happy about his new girlfriend and doesn’t care who knows it. Marc and Shannon met in Miami a few months go and have been hanging out ever since. She has a four year old son from a previous relationship, could be a good playmate for Anthony’s twins Max & Emme, whose mother is Lopez as I am sure all already know. At least one of Latin crooner’s kids is happy about his new found love. Marc’s son Chase, from his marriage to Dayanara Torres, tweeted that the new [...]

What Is It About Chris Martin of Coldplay?

The clocks struck midnight on New Year's Eve 2011 and London put on the most amazing firework display in years beating many of the cities around the world who usually take the top spot in the firework display ranking. The camera shots panned around the incredible city that is London. Fireworks came out of the world famous landmark "Big Ben" for the first time, as well as from the London Eye, which has been used for fireworks for the past few years. 2012 marks the year the summer Olympics will arrive in London. That was also commemorated in this extraordinary display with the Olympic rings and colours shown in the fireworks. Music has long been associated with the Olympics. With many months still to go before the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, it remains to be seen (and more over, heard) what, and if, there will be a musical legacy associated with these Summer games.
